Passing alerts to xi

Post by Envera IT »

So I've got alerts flowing into xi, works fine. But I can see some issues trying to scale this just in terms of the amount of alerts I'll need to setup. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on managing lots of alert queries; making changes to queries in mass (alert templates would be great on NLS), creating queries in mass on NLS for a number of hosts on xi, etc?

I'm looking at having to make an NLS alert which looks for the same event on few hundred corresponding hosts in xi. xi has a passive service running against a hostgroup, but every host needs to have a unique NRDP alert in NLS setup. Is there anyway for me to use a single query in NLS, that uses the NLS Host field to figure out what xi host object the alert corresponds to? Even if its not inbuilt, if you have any tips on a way to make this possible I'd be interested in hearing them. If there's no options here, just tips on managing the amount of alerts would be appreciated.

Right now, I do not believe we have a specific way to do it. We've reached out to the developers to see if there is some work-around that we can implement, and if they give me any good news, I'll let you know. We do have a feature request in place to add this functionality in the future, but I cannot guarantee if and when it will be added.
