xi -licencing

Post by markers »

Hi!

Just a quick question, might not be a quick answer.

All the other versions of Nagios, I have installed, configured and used for free.

Is Nagios xi free? What is the difference between purchased versions and not?

Thanks in advance.

The difference between Nagios xi and Nagios Core are large in number, but for a quick breakdown:

Nagios xi is not free, however it does come with a 60 day trial. However after the 60 days you will have to license it or be forced to drop to monitoring 7 hosts.
Nagios xi allows for use of new and updated features such as wizards, components, Core Config Manager to make your life easier.
Nagios xi incorporates an actively developed PHP front end to make Nagios more appealing to the eyes.
Nagios xi incorporates built in graphing of performance data.

Yeah you certainly can, there is a VM download (so you can run it using any VMware software) of you can simply install Nagios xi from source (its very easy as it has been scripted 100%).
