Network Reachability Map
How do I generate the graphic that shows parent/child relationships? I seem to remember being able to do this in past versions of Nagios Core. Maybe it was a plugin...?

Re: Network Reachability Map
In the menus in the left sidebar, under "Maps", there is one called "Network Status Map" that I believe is what you are looking for.

Yeah that one has never really worked. I just sent an email to xisupport list to address.

Re: Network Reachability Map
The goal is to come up with a (large) printable map that shows parent/child dependencies as defined in Nagios. Because we have so many nodes, Balloon map and Hyper map just doesn't give us the detail we're looking for. Will Tree map do this one we get it working, or should I be looking for another map plug in?

Re: Network Reachability Map
The Tree map will certainly be better than the others, but I'm not convinced it will actually be good for you. What sorts of relationships do you normally have? As in, purely linear vs. multiple parents, etc. Perhaps you could give us a mockup of what an ideal graph would be for you so we know what you're looking for - maybe we'd be able to make a new one that better fits your needs.

Almost 100% linear. Only about 3 levels of nesting at the most deep when looking at parents of parents. Something like the balloon map would be fine but I need nodes to not stack on top of each other so that host names are readable when printed.

Would something similar to this be good?

Yeah, maybe with other layout options in addition to vertical. Radial and horizontal would be two other good layouts for this format.

Re: Network Reachability Map
I think I can do that. I'll have to look into the possibility of building a new component for this.
