Nagios xi – Monitoring VMware

Post by cbuesing »

I found the Nagios xi – Monitoring VMware PDF and wanted to give it a try. First I upgraded to 2009R1.2 and everything went smooth. Then I followed the PDF and installed SDK, then installed the Plugins Perl library and then the wizard. All the installs went without a hitch.

But when I try and run the vmware wizard it says "Error: It appears as though you have not installed the VMware SDK or ESX plugins on your Nagios xi server. You must have these components properly installed on your system before using this wizard"

Anyone get this working? Is there an ESX plugin I need to install that the guide is missing?

When installing the SDK, I chose the default location.

In which directory do you want to install the executable files?
[/usr/bin]

The installation of vSphere CLI 4.0.0 build-161974 for Linux completed
successfully. You can decide to remove this software from your system at any
time by invoking the following command:
"/usr/bin/vmware-uninstall-vSphere-CLI.pl".

This installer has successfully installed both vSphere CLI and the vSphere SDK
for Perl.

Enjoy,

Ran these commands also. No issues, everything installed.

wget http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... noarch.rpm
yum install -yq perl-Class-Accessor perl-Config-Tiny perl-Math-Calc-Units perl-Params-Validate
rpm -Uvh perl-Nagios-Plugin-*.rpm

Regardless of the error, you have completed successfully.

I'll do some testing today.
