I am using NagiosXI as part of my project for my Graduate Thesis. For this I need to be able to export data from Nagios to either a Word Document, PDF Document, or Excel Spreadsheet. Excel would be ideal since I would be able to more easily manipulate the data to perform needed calculations. The data exported would have to be configured to have records of each service monitored down to each time NagiosXI checked the service, instead of providing a % or duration of uptime for the service or host. The graphs with NagiosXI are really awesome, but I need access to the raw data behind these graphs so that I can validate my work.

I am a bit new to NagiosXI, so I am researching to hopefully find the best option to accomplish this. So if a feature like this already exists in NagiosXI, I apologize for not having already noticed it. Researching online I did however find Nagios XML Engine (NXE), which appears to be able to export Nagios data to XML, and from that to Word, PDF, and Excel formats. NXE appears to be focused for Nagios instead of NagiosXI. While NagiosXI is based off of Nagios, would NXE possibly work with NagiosXI as well Has anyone used NXE before? If so, are there any potential complications I should be aware of?
Relevant Nagios XI Information:
Linux Distribution and version? Nagios XI 2009R1.4B
32 or 64bit? Installed on cEntOS x64
VMware Image or Manual Install of XI? Manual installaion
Are there specials configurations on your system, ie; is Gnome installed? Are you using a proxy? Are you using SSL? No specific configurations are required for my testing, so none were installed.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
PDM
