XI VMWare Fresh Install Cant Login With nagiosadmin

Post by axj0187 »

Hello,

I am currently having problems with a fresh VMWare installation. I had a copy of 2011R1.3 Running just fine and then we made some changes and the performance graphs stopped working. We were looking to reinstall soon anyways for a few different reasons so we just opted to install the 2011R1.5 image.

Our Unix team installed got the image up and running just like the previous installation, and I navigated to the Nagios XI Installer Screen:

Its not shown in the screenshot, but I modified the email address to be my own, and accepted the default password. I clicked install and was brought to the login screen:

I attempted to login with the following:
Username: nagiosadmin
Password: fmqbbu

and was denied access with the message username/password incorrect. I do have root access to the machine (root - nagiosxi) and MySQL Access, so I checked the nagiosql database (tbl_user) and nagiosadmin does exist and the encrypted password is shown. I then attempted to use the Forgot Password function on the login screen and entered nagiosadmin into the username prompt. It brings me to the success page saying the email was sent however at the top of the screen I get the following error:

Invalid address: Invalid address: Invalid address: root@localhostYou must provide at least one recipient email address.

(Appears to have come from phpmailer)

*Note: The only modification we made was upping the VMWare resources to 4GB Memory.

uname -a
Linux ***.***.***.*** 2.6.18-238.12.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue May 31 13:23:01 EDT 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

My project has come to a standstill so I really appreciate any help! We are almost certain we will be purchasing a license once everything is up and running and configured.

Also, one other topic id like some opinions on concerns the max number of hosts/services that can run on a single box. Our system setup is going to be 4GB Memory, 2 Cores, and 50GB of HD Space (Probably Overkill). Also, how would using an entirely agent less setup affect these numbers (More system resources needed I assume).
^^Apologies if answers to these questions already exist on the forum, excuse my being new here. If they do just yell at me and ill be cool with that as long as I get help with my login issue :D

I was unable to recreate this issue, but you could try resetting your password from the command line by running /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/reset_nagiosadmin_password.php
