Nagios xi Notifications
I am trying to use the nagiosxi notification handlers following the Nagios xi users and contacts documentation. When I choose the xi_host_notification_handler and the service notification handler in the host command section of the contact, I do not receive any notifications. I also do not receive any notifications for the nagios xi admin user either. I have both templates set to xi_contact generic. I tried adding the user and groups to the core config manager under the service and the host, but still do not receive notifications. The test emails go through fine. I am using 2009R1.3D.

Check these possible solutions and see if one of these does the trick. If not, let us know and we'll keep on it.

Re: Nagios xi Notifications
I followed the solutions and am able to send alerts as nagiosadmin. However, when I setup an addition contact and set the host command to xi_host_notification_handler I do not receive any alerts for that user. If I also select notify-host-by-email I receive the alerts. Is this the correct way to setup a contact to receive alerts from nagios xi?

Re: Nagios xi Notifications
I'm going to have you go through and just verify a few settings for me.
Access the Configure->My Account Settings, the verify that notifications are enabled on the Notification Preferences page. Verify that that "Email" box is checked on the Notification Methods page.
Go to the CCM->Contact Templates and access the settings for your template. Make sure the "host notif enabled" button is set to "on".
See if those do anything, and if not, we'll keep digging.

Host notif. enable was set to skip.

Re: Nagios xi Notifications
A lot of those settings are inherited from higher level templates, but any changes made to a template like this one will override the template setting. It might be worth checking the template that this inherits from as well to make sure you have the notification settings the way you want them.

Re: Nagios xi Notifications
I am having a similar issue.
I have gone through
http://support.nagios.com/wiki/index.ph ... n_Problems
My xi_contact_generic template is has host notif. enable set to on.
Time period hosts is 24x7
All host options are populated except for "n".
Host command is xi_host_notification_handler
Active is enabled.
Test email message send fine, but going to one of my hosts and sending a custom notification fails to yield an email - although it does show up in Incident Management | notification.
Could my notify-host-by-email command be bad (I wonder if I imported a bad command from my previous install)?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Nagios xi Notifications
First thing comes to mind when anyone says "Test messages come through, but actual alerts don't is..." the wrong template is being used for the nagiosadmin user.
