Elevated access to Nagios xi instances for some users

Post by MSPk »

Hi Team

we are using nagios fusion with 4 Nagios xi instances fused to it, we will rolling out this setup shortly into production and currently working on the process to handle the new alerts generated by underlying nagios instances.

we are planning to give access to fusion to all the technical teams and our monitoring/ops team. We want to give the technical teams read only access to all the underlying nagiosxi instances while give 'control all hosts and services' option to ops team.

Do we have an option where we can give the credenatils of the underlying nagios instances based on the user logged in? or have an option where a specific set of people have elevated access to the underlying nagios instances?

There are only two types of users that you can create in Nagios Fusion (User and Admin). The only difference between them is that "Users" don't have access to the "Admin" and "Configure" menus. Every user in Fusion can view the fused servers, and drill down to each one. Of cause, they will be asked for log in credentials.

Is it possible that I create a user on Fusion and give exact same credentials on the underlying Nagios xi instance as well and when the user logs into fusion will be able to access the nagios xi without a need to login to each Nagios xi instances?

When you drill down to each fused server, the credentials that will be used will be whatever you have specified under "Server Credentials" (Configure->Fused Server Credentials). If you are logged in (in Fusion) as a different user, you will be asked for credentials. So, basically, I don't believe this will work very well. I know that our developers will be implementing many new features in the next revisions of Fusion. I am not sure if "elevated access" will be one of them.
