Suggested changes to the nagios xi map

Post by niebais »

We've recently installed the Nagios xi component on our system and noticed a few things that would be beneficial for the map to have:

1) The ability to click on the icon and drill down into nagios to the alert or monitor.
2) Make sure that, when an error happens, that the error is at the top if several are grouped together.

I like the google map "look and feel" and the ability to zoom in, but a few more features would make this map really be a useful tool.

We're currently working on some new mapping technologies for xi. We appreciate this feedback, it helps us know what people are looking for. Thank you!

In cases where there are multiple alerts in the same area, we'd like it to pull up a list of the alerts and let us pick them.

Here's a concept design we're looking at. No promises on what our finished product would look like, but it gives an idea of where we'd like to go with it.

:) I think I like it. The only thing I'm concerned with using that system is the amount of cpu that is used on the main system. If it can be kept low, that solution seems like a great one.

Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Yeah, it's all javascript actually, so all of the calculations are through the end-users browser.

I need to ask on this as well, any updates on the new map? We'd like to start using one with more functionality.

This will be included in the next release which is slated for approximately mid Feb (barring no big hold ups).

Thanks!
