Hi Team,
We are Migrating our Production Nagios Server that running on RHEL7 Nagios xi 2024R1.1.2 to RHEL9 ( New System ) Nagios xi 2024R1.3.3.
I have read as per https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... I-2024.pdf , both versions has to match to migrate configuration and data ?
[ The version of the fresh install of Nagios xi that you are restoring to needs to match the verison of
Nagios xi that the backup was taken from. For example:
• Backup was created on Nagios xi 2024R1.1.2
• The server you are restoring to must have Nagios xi 2024R1.1.2 installed on it ]
What options do i have to migrate the configuration and data :
Option 1 : We have secondary Server which is RHEL 7 2024R1.1.2 xi Installed with nothing inside it . But if i export/import data it will start polling all the monitors ( thousands of them and alerting causing the Spikes ) ,
what prosses i need to stop in order stop this load ( running all the monitors on secondary node and alerting ) ?
Option 2 : What kind of problems we might face if we export/import config backup onto Nagios xi 2024R1.3.3 ? any workarounds ?

If you take a snapshot with the configs on your current machine they should be set up correctly when you migrate to the Rhel9 machine. I'll attach a matrix to the post that shows what versions of our products are supported for each distro. since you are on R1.1.2 you should be able to backup your system and restore it on a Rhel 9 instance and be fine, and from there you can upgrade to the latest version if you would like. Following the link you posted above should give you a the proper steps to follow. For a summary you'll need a rhel9 system with 2024R1.1.2 and from there run the backup and restore process. After thats complete you can run the normal upgrade process to 2024R1.3.3. The only weirdness there might be is if your original install is an rpm install and the new instance is a tarball install.

Re: Nagios xi Data Migration onto Different Server Help
There is a third option that you may want to consider. Have a look at the OS support matrix https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... -1045.html. You can install 2024R1.1.2 on your RHEL 9 system, restore the backup from your RHEL7 system and then upgrade to 2024R1.3.3.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Re: Nagios xi Data Migration onto Different Server Help
Thank you . On RHEL7 i cant upgrade to latest so i need to install older version on RHEL9 first .
[root@nagiosxi]# ./upgrade

Nagios xi no longer supports this distro due to it being EOL.
If you'd like to upgrade your Nagios xi past 2024R1.1.5, you will need to install it on
one of the following distros:
CentOS Stream 9, RHEL or Oracle 8, 9
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, or 24.04 LTS
Debian 11 or 12
