Performance and Timeout issues in v5.7.2

Post by vappukuttan »

Hello,

I saw a few threads talking about issues within v5.7.2, I didnt want to pile on there or confuse those conversations, so I started a new thread.

Initially when i upgraded to 5.7.0,5.7.1 - we used to have issues when applying configuration. Monitors would disappear for about 7 minutes.

With v5.7.2 the monitors dont disappear (thank you for that), but we do see that no new updates happen for 5-7 minutes long. We didnt seem to have any of these issues prior to the 5.7 version. Is this something that we should expect to live with or is it being reviewed/enhanced already.

We also have started to see "Your session has timed out" recently. The user timeout is set at 90minutes.. but we randomly get the message and have to log back in. Not sure if this has already been mentioned before. I was planning to increase the timeout to different levels and check (but given it take the monitors down for 5-10 mins each time, i need to plan my changes :)

The other thread that i read about issues with 5.7.2 is where the user upgraded from 5.6.12 to 5.7.2 (https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=59866). I also see Benjamin recommend downgrading the ndoutils. Is there an issue with the new versions and is it being fixed for a new patch?

Thank you,
Vinod

Hi Vinod,

We should have the next maintenance release, 5.7.3, out soon to address a few lingering issues in ndo3 impacting some users. If you're unable to wait until that time, then downgrading is an option.

Regarding the random session timeouts, this has not been an issue in 5.7.x so far. While we have made security updates in 5.7.2, I don't believe those changes would affect how sessions are handled.

Can your try to test this in another web browser to see if you get the same behavior? There is also the Keep Alive option in the System Settings, go to Admin > System Config > System Settings > Security.

Thank you Benjamin for the update. Do you have have a change log/list that's being released with 5.7.3 or a timeline when to expect it.

I updated the timeout minutes a couple of days ago and I didnt get any timeouts yesterday. I will update if i see any today/tomorrow. Dont need to spend any time on this issue.

Thank you,
Vinod
