upgrading from Nagios xi 2009R1.3E to 2009R1.4B problems

Post by microdata.dk »

Hi.

I tried to upgrad my Nagios xi, today but i keeps failing. I use the wget command from command line and then the ./upgrade. It's starts to upgrade but at some point
it stops when it's tries to stop nagios and start it again. It runs on CentOS 5.5. in a VMware setup. Anyone have any ideas.

THX

Could you paste the terminal output from around where it errors out?

Running configuration check...done.
Stopping nagios: .done.
Starting nagios:

Interesting. That's certainly not something I've seen before, so I'm not sure what's going on there. I'll see if I can reproduce that on any test systems here and get back to you.

Well, a 1.3E to 1.4B upgrade worked perfectly here. Can you restart the nagios daemon manually, outside of the upgrade script? Does rebooting and trying again help at all?

We did manage to upgrade. It took 4 hours, because the mysql DB was huge.

New problem after upgrade. Reboot helps in about 5 in then it's back

Can you try running a manual repair with the following script:

/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/repairmysql.sh nagios nagios_logentries

Version 1.4b also lets you specify the maintenance of your DB tables in the Admin->Performance Settings page.

The command helped, but the xi system component status "Event Data" keeps turning RED
