Getting Performance information over long term - Splunk?

Post by rez1sog »

We are a customer running Nagios XI and we are wondering what is the best way to get long term performance data out of it. Currently we can see ping day by hour/data/week/etc.., but I do not see anything that allows me to do the same with cpu/disk/network/memory/etc... How is that done with Nagios XI? I would like to be able to automatically generate a report on a weekly basis that shows what the values for the week were for several key servers that would be sent via email. How would this be done?

Should I be using something from a third party? Such as "Splunk for Nagios"? http://splunk-base.splunk.com/apps/2237 ... for-nagios

or is there another/better way?

You should have performance graphs for every service that returns performance data
Home -> Service Detail -> Select Service -> Performance graphs Tab

If you click on the graph, it will take you to a view where you can change the time period
