Problem: Host ist pending in xi-View

Post by hansdampf »

Good news at first...I´ve faxed our companies credit-card-data today to complete our nagios-xi-order! :D

But I have one strange behaviour with my running server.

There is a host with the following status:

Host check is pending...

And all Services on the host-detail-page are disabled:

Active Checks [Disabled] [Enable]
Passive Checks [Disabled] [Enable]
Notifications [Disabled] [Enable]
Flap Detection [Disabled] [Enable]
Event Handler [Disabled] [Enable]
Performance Data [Disabled]
Obsession [Disabled] [Enable]

But when I look into the host-overview (or with check_mk) it looks like this:

2010-12-21 11:56:44 OK - 192.168.80.1: rta 29.774ms, lost 0%

Nagios-Core-Output:

Last State Change: 12-16-2010 13:34:22
Last Notification: N/A (notification 0)
Is This Host Flapping?
NO
(0.00% state change)
In Scheduled Downtime?
NO
Last Update: 12-21-2010 12:01:44 ( 0d 0h 0m 6s ago)
Active Checks:
ENABLED
Passive Checks:
ENABLED
Obsessing:

Notifications:
ENABLED
Event Handler:

Flap Detection:

When I try to see all services I receive an empty table.

What´s wrong there?

Bye

Host and service checks are separate items in Nagios. A host usually has it's own check defined (usually "check-host-alive"). And you can have notifications, flap detection, etc enabled for a host, while still having all of these things disabled for all of a host's services.

If I remember correctly, if you disable everything in the host's settings, it should disable it for the services as well. But if you make changes in the service settings, the host settings will remain untouched. Does that make sense?
