You have two separate issues here.
Is the performance graphing functional now?
I'm guessing the update check is failing because of the proxy. I'm guessing it's a php script making the check, but I don't know for sure.

Right, graphs are fine. But getting them to work caused proxy check to quit working, if it was ever really working at all.
