Nagios xi - Passive Checks - Host down alert

Post by Mediatek »

I have nagios xi installed.

Passive check via NRDP is set.

All servers are behinds firewalls from remote networks.

They send passive checks for the CPU,Disk and such.
However even when the Passive checks stop coming in, the server Status stays green and UP.

I would like to be able to see the Status go DOWN when a check hasn't been received in a while (a time frame I want to define if possible).

I have attached a screenshot that might make things more clear.

If there is another way to check if a host behind a firewall is down or up, I would be happy to know as well.

Thanks in advance :)

If the passive checks send status I'd guess you could read the nagios.log file periodically to get results. Or, you might query the DB for status. Here's a link to the DB info.
