High CPU Utilization
My Nagios XI machine is running really high on the CPU. It appears the SQL is the culprit. I am at 87 hosts and 600 services. Any ideas?

Re: High CPU Utilization
I cut out 100 services and I am down to 30% cpu utilization which in my mind still seems high.
Can other post up there CPU utilization and the number of hosts\services. I am curious since I had almost double on my nagios core without this issue.

Re: High CPU Utilization
Hi,
I had the same issue in a Nagios Core deployment. Cant recall the exact cause, but it was something to do with a lot of inserts to the DB of small amounts of data.
It was fixed by running a index of the database:
#mysqlcheck -aov --databases nagios
I run this nightly now just via cron & havent had the problem since.
Hope this helps..

Re: High CPU Utilization
I'll look into adding some of this into the product.
Can I get a list of the 100 services you disable? I'd also like to look into removing as many packages from out VM images as possible, so if you have these lists that would be great.
One thing that I do plan on using in the future is Avahi.

Nagios XI High Load
I used the install image for the VM. The VM has 2 single core CPUs and 2GB of RAM. The load is any from 2.5 to 7 at any given time and there is approximately 50% of the CPU being idle. Not sure why the load is still. However, once I start to add any configs or select performance graphs the load has jumped way up to 20, 30 or 40 with 100% if the CPU being utilized. Something is not right here. This is a standard load of XI per the document. Are there performance tweaks for XI that need made? I have not found any documentation that really supports any best practices for performance.
