Hello
Is it possible to create a test/development environment from a copy of the live environment?:
Can I rename the LIVE environment after the copy? Or do I need to do a fresh install/import backup procedure? Or something else?
Reason is that I need to upgrade to latest version.
Currently I use a lot of obsolete Windows Agents (NSCP) with scripted Powershell checks that needs to be converted to the new ncpa agents.
Currently running:
Virtual machine on ESX 6.5
Nagios xi version: 5.6.14
Release info: localhost.localdomain 3.10.0-1127.13.1.el7.x86_64 x86_64
CentOS Linux release 7.8.2003 (Core)
Create secondary instance of xi from full copy

Re: Create secondary instance of xi from full copy
Hi,
The best method for doing this now would be to use the backup and restore script, it will carry everything over to the new server at the time of the backup (on the current system).
https://library.nagios.com/library/prod ... nagios-xi/
The backup and restore process must be run between the same versions of Nagios xi. If you need download an older version, they are available here:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... rsions.php
You can rename after rename it and change the IP address after the procedure ( see page 13).
Let me know if you have more questions.
Best Regards,
Benjamin

=> Copy current LIVE
=> Rename copy to TEMP
=> Upgrade new TEMP to latest build
=> Backup/export new TEMP
=> boot OVA build from nagios.com site for TEST env.
=> Import TEMP export tot TEST
I'll give an update afterwards.
