I am currently evaluating Nagios xi and anytime I make a change and apply, the monitoring engine dies and I have to restart it. It starts and runs fine, just have changes it stops. Any direction is appreciated. Thanks.

Can you let us know what version of Nagios xi and Linux platform (linux distro, version, 32/64 bit) you're using?

I too have this issue. I am running on a 64-bit CentOS 5.5 VM on ESX 3.5. xi is 2011R1.

We had this show up in one of our test environments as well. We're not sure what's causing it yet, but when is run from the command-line (or the web UI), an error occurs if Nagios is running. If Nagios is stopped it seems to restart just fine. We're getting some sort of error from the service binary, we'll post an update as soon as we know more. Note: this only occurs on some systems and not others, we haven't identified the source of the issue yet.

We did identify the source of this issue, and the latest version with this bug fix should be posted in the next day or two.

We posted a fix for this issue in our latest devel release. Download the xi-2011-latest-devel.tar.gz release and run the update.

Sorry, but I do not see where to download that at. The links on the web page still point at the version I am currently running.
