Monitoring Solaris 8,9,10 on Nagios xi

Post by aap »

Hi,

I have an installation of Nagios xi running on Centos6 and would like to monitor our Solaris Servers across versions 8, 9 and 10.

Please can anyone advise the best way to achieve this? As well as performance monitoring, I would also like to monitor the Sun hardware. Any ideas are welcome.

I appreciate any help offered.

Thanks.

Solaris machines could be monitored with SNMP.

Also, we will shortly have a Solaris agent and wizard for xi, although I am not sure which version of Solaris will work.

Are you interested in beta testing them?

Hi,

Thanks very much for your response.

I will definitely be interested in beta testing the Solaris agent. Of particular interest to us is getting hardware alerts.

I 'll wait to hear from you.

Again, this is beta...

That said, the agent tarball can be downloaded from
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ent.tar.gz

One thing I know you will likely run into is the need to set the following executable permissions

Code: Select all

chmod +x subcomponents/install subcomponents/extraplugins/* 0-prereqs 1-usersgroups 2-plugins 3-nrpe A-subcomponents fullinstall init.sh
After than
I have attached the wizard to this post

To verify, you do have the Nagios server's IP address in the nrpe.cfg on the remote machine correct?

Hi,

All working fine now. There was an old nrpe install on the server which has now been removed and everything works fine.

It looks good. Installing the Hardware management pack for Solaris 10 so we can get SNMP traps as well.

When do you think we will have a full release of the Config Wizard and Agent?

As far as I know the version you have of the agent and wizard are both final release candidates. Both the wizard and agent should be publicly posted soon.
