DNS Lookup

Post by chillipepper »

Its seems the DNS lookup issue still prevails in Nagios NA 2.2.3 , we have our internal DNS as well as public DNS servers added but Nagios does not show the Hostname it can resolve the ip address just fine resolve hostname in reports and queries is checked under global administrator, is there some other configuration that i might be missing for Nagios NA to show hostnames by default instead of ip?

There are DNS settings under Admin -> Global Settings.

It does not appear we have any outstanding bug or feature requests about DNS, but you say it prevails in 2.2.3. You don't have any previous posts in the NNA section, so I'm not sure what previous issue you are talking about. Could you point me to what you are looking at from the past? ...or am I just confused and this is a completely new issue? If it is completely new, could you describe it in a bit more detail? Thanks!

Can you show us a screenshot of where you're seeing the error?

Also, from the CLI of the NNA machine - are you able to run nslookup ip.here for the correct DNS result?

Just checking in since we have not heard from you in a while. Did @rkennedy's post clear things up or has the issue otherwise been resolved?
