We have this configuration: Nagios xi 2011R1.5
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3; 32 bit; VMWare Image of Nagiosxi; No special configurations.Using Mozilla firefox.
We were following this link http://labs.nagios.com/2011/06/14/check ... -a-plugin/
The script is already executable, but we can see this message
[nagios@nagioscwp libexec]$ ./check_xi_updates -c 7
xi Updates UNKNOWN: Failed to check for updates.|'Build Age'=0;;;0;730 'Release Age'=0;;;0;730
[nagios@nagioscwp libexec]$
Certainly, our last_update_check_succeeded has failed. How can I figure out why?

Re: Check for xi updates with a plugin
That plugin is still fairly new. Are you able to get a successful update notice from the Nagios xi Admin->Check For Updates page?

Re: Check for xi updates with a plugin

Latest Available Version: 2009R1.3G
Installed Version: 2011R1.5
Last Update Check: 2011-07-14 13:06:48

Where in the interface are you seeing that it has failed, can you post a screenshot?

Re: Check for xi updates with a plugin
There's a known bug in 1.6 that causes the update check to fail. We fixed the bug in SVN for the next release. However, the update check may still fail if the xi server is behind a proxy, we're still working on that part.

With upgrade R1.7, it is still there at GUI Level.
In Console, the same
[root@nagioscwp libexec]# ./check_xi_updates -c 7
xi Updates UNKNOWN: Failed to check for updates.|'Build Age'=0;;;0;730 'Release Age'=0;;;0;730
