ok ok thanks for no help at all... but i think i am on the right track now and almost there now and would just need a little bit help ;)

it turned out not only i need to put the snmp manager host in the SNMP trap sender component setting, but i also need to enable SNMP trap monitoring for it to be monitored.

so i did that and click commit and it says:

SNMP Trap Monitoring Wizard

* Configuration submitted for processing...
* Waiting for configuration verification...................................................
* Configuration verification failed.

Configuration Error

An error occurred while attempting to apply your configuration to the monitoring engine. Contact your Nagios administrator if this problem persists.

Run the Monitoring Wizard Again

View the latest configuration snapshots

Since it says an error occured while trying to apply changes to the monitoring engine. Now how do i see what the error messages and etc so i can troubleshoot?

with nagios core i would be able to run /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
but here i dont know which configure file it put in and try. can someone please help?!!!

Apologies for our lateness in replying. I'm not very knowledgeable in SNMP, but to troubleshoot a configuration error, go to your Core Config Manager->Configuration Snapshot link, and the text file will display the error output that you used to see in Core. When a configuration error occurs, it take a snapshot of the bad config and saves it to a zip file that you can download as a snapshot (should be highlighted in red if it had an error). It then rolls back to the last known good configuration. So if the config didn't apply correctly, then the bad config is still in the Core Config Manager and needs to be fixed before the Apply Configuration can go through successfully. If you need further help with the config error, go ahead and post the contents of the snapshot text file, and we can help you troubleshoot.

Hi Tony -

Please accept our apologies. Our techs were likely busy with other posts and missed your issue. We'll be making some changes to our support process that will hopefully prevent missed posts in the future.

With regards to your issue, I have a quick question. The SNMP trap sender component just allows Nagios xi to send SNMP traps to another NMS agent when alert occur. The process of receiving SNMP traps is different, and is used for different purposes (e.g. Nagios receiving and processing an event). Did you need to do both things, or just send SNMP traps?

With regards to the latest error message you're seeing, you can get a snapshot and error output for the problem by selecting "Config Snapshots" from the Admin menu. Select the "View Output" icon next to the most recent Config Error snapshot to get the error output from the latest run.

If you can post the error messages you see in that output, we should be able to help you out more.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.

hi,

i was able to look at the configure verification output and fix the error.

and thanks for the clarification. no i just need to forward whatever alerts i am receiving on nagios to another SNMP manager.

i followed exact instruction on "sending SNMP traps with nagios xi" find on your nagios library.

i have a lot of hosts and services configured on my nagios and some of them the client do not have nrpe agents installed. so the alerts are flooding my mailbox. just that it do not show up as snmp trap alerts.

thanks,

If it's of any use 192.168.5.4 would be on the network our developers use. I could hypothesise that you need to configure the component this is done on the management screen where it's uploaded.

You may need to unzip the component change this part and re-zip/upload it.
