Nagios xi - HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
We configured Nagios xi to monitor http url and it works great. If I change http to https it gives me the warning HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. Currently we're using free edition of Nagios xi. Does it require license to monitor https URL?. Please advise.

No license is required for that, no. The trial is fully functional, just time-limited.
There are multiple parts required to construct a proper HTTPS check, so perhaps you're missing one:
1) Change the URL to HTTPS
2) Make sure the port is 443
3) Tell the plugin to actually use SSL
