Datasources are the different points of performance data that can be gathered from a Host/Service, this allows you to see the data separately. For instance, a check may return a 5 minute average of I/O, and also a 10 minute average of I/O. These averages are two separate data points.

I still don't understand in these two graphs, since the unit of the Ordinates are different (RTA and Packets loss), meaning they are different data graphs, why display "Datasource:ds1/ds2" rather than "Datasource"?slansing wrote:Datasources are the different points of performance data that can be gathered from a Host/Service, this allows you to see the data separately. Are you asking why not combine the two into one? For the fact that they are separate data sources. Most users would rather see separate more detailed images rather than a conjoined bunch. Data source 1, and Data source 2 simply indicate there are two Datasources, and they are separated. This can also help you drill down on issues if you are only getting data for one rather than the other so on and so forth.

I mean the word "ds1" and "ds2" will confuse people, because we don't know where are these two Datasource locate? the word "Datasource:ds1" or "Datasource:ds2" seems not necessary to be displayed here, why not just display "Datasource"?slansing wrote:Are you asking why not combine the two into one? Some of the datasources are named depending on the graph template that is used. If the datasources aren't named, they default to ds1, ds2, etc.
