Currently using nagios Core with NRPE 2.15 version .Now I am planning to migrate from Nagios core to Nagios xi. Will Nagios xi support NRPE 2.15 version or need to re-install later version ? If NRPE v2.15 supports Nagios xi, which version of Nagios xi does it support?
Also is there any way ,i can upgrade NRPE to later version without re-installing?

Good question. The latest version of NRPE is version 4.x and this is compatible with the older agents. The main difference is with packet structure used to communicate between Nagio xi ( using check_nrpe ) and the remote host running the agent. You can set the check command in Nagios xi to use the older version to maintain compatibility. The following KB article explains how to set this up.
NRPE - Remote does not support Version 3 Packets
In short, adding a -2 flag to the check command will correct the error.
As far as upgrading NRPE, the instructions will vary depending upon how you installed it. Do you recall if you installed it from source or used the automated script (i.e. The Linux Agent)?
